DANIEL CONSTRUCTION OF LAGRANGE, INC.
Daniel Lumber Company was established in 1918. When Thomas A. Daniel purchased H.W. Caldwell Lumber Supply a 318 Main Street after his death in 1934, the business was continued by his six sons.
During the years from the 30’s til the mid 70’s, Daniel Lumber Company, was not only a General Contractor, but also ran a sawmill and building supply business. In 1976, Daniel Lumber sold its building supply operation to Lowe’s, turning its focus to construction and a pallet manufacturing business which was started in the 60’s.
In 1988, Daniel Construction of LaGrange, Inc. was incorporated and Daniel Lumber Company remained in the “pallet manufacturing” business and managed the companies property.
During these 80+ years, Daniel has constructed a number of notable projects, including the “Little White House” in Warm Springs, built for then New York governor Franklin D. Roosevelt. Other projects include dozens of area churches; Rosemont Baptist, Advent Lutheran, Franklin Road Baptist, First Baptist Family Life Center, and East Vernon Baptist just to name a few.
At LaGrange College we constructed the new Fuller E. Callaway Student Center. In 1996 we renovated the Smith Hall Building and in 2003 we renovated Boatwright Hall. In 1996 we built the “Hospice LaGrange” facility, at West Georgia Medical Center, which was funded by Ely Callaway.
In the LaGrange Industrial Park, our projects include the Dow Jones Plant, which prints the Wall Street Journal, and the Daniel Radiator Plant, which is now Kleen-Tex Plant #4. In 2001 we constructed a $2 million, design-build facility for Ply-Mart in Columbus and LaGrange as well as Mountville Mills.
Daniel Construction has also worked with the local school system and those in surrounding counties in the construction, renovations, and additions of many of the school facilities.
Joe Daniel, Sr, sole surviving son of T.A. Daniel, is Chairman of the Board and remains extremely active in the daily operations of the company.
Allen Daniel serves as president of Daniel Construction while Joe Daniel, Jr (Ned) is president of Daniel Lumber and in charge of the pallet operation.
During our more than 80 years in business, we feel we have developed a solid reputation for producing quality projects in a cost effective manner while meeting required schedules. We feel these principles of quality & integrity, along with staying abreast of new construction trends & technology will continue to guide us in the future.
In the LaGrange Industrial Park, our projects include the Dow Jones Plant, which prints the Wall Street Journal, and the Daniel Radiator Plant, which is now Kleen-Tex plant #4. In 2001, we constructed a $2 million, design-build facility for Ply-Mart in Columbus and last year worked with them on $1 million renovation for their new LaGrange Facility. We recently completed our fourth addition at Mountville Mills, more than doubling the size of their original plant.
Daniel Construction has also worked with the local school system and those in surrounding counties in the construction, renovations, and additions of school facilities in Heard, Meriwether, Coweta, Pike and Troup counties.
In 2005, we received an AGC Build Georgia Award for construction of the Visitor Center for Hills & Dales Estate, opened to the public by the Fuller E. Callaway Foundation on October 4, 2004.
